KFC Original Secret Chicken Recipe

KFC Original Recipe Chicken holds a special place in my heart, reminding me of cherished childhood memories. Every day after school, my aunt would walk me home, and we would make a stop at the local KFC, just half a block away. We would share a plate of delicious chicken and indulge in the strawberry parfait they used to serve. Unlike the other fast-food options, such as the Pioneer Chicken my mom would buy, this food memory is one I can still savor today, recreating the taste in my own kitchen.

Now, you might ask, why bother making a copycat recipe when there’s a KFC nearby? Well, firstly, making copycat recipes is so much fun! And secondly, the homemade version is of much higher quality. If you’ve been to a KFC in the last decade, you might have noticed that the chicken pieces have shrunk considerably. Additionally, if you’re like me and prefer to avoid artificial additives such as MSG, then making your own KFC Original Recipe Chicken is the way to go. Not to mention, it can be quite expensive as far as fast food goes.

So here we are, on a mission to unravel the secrets behind the famous 11 herbs and spices. Many have tried, but according to KFC, no one has ever succeeded. However, a food reporter from the Chicago Tribune had a stroke of luck. He visited the nephew of Colonel Sanders himself, who had vivid memories of the recipe that used to be made in large buckets. And guess what? He found an old scrapbook that contained a copy of the original recipe. Ecstatic, the reporter snapped a photo and returned to Chicago for some serious taste testing.

As a loyal fan of KFC Original Recipe Chicken, I couldn’t help but be intrigued. The recipe was put to the test, and with just one addition – MSG – they were able to recreate that unmistakable and incredible flavor.

Personal Experiences with the Recipe

Let’s hear from some fellow chicken enthusiasts who have attempted to recreate the KFC Original Secret Chicken recipe:

  • “I recently made this recipe, and I agree that it’s best to go easy on the paprika. My chicken had a fiery spicy kick that lingered at the back of my throat while eating. Overall, I found the recipe to be pretty close to the original. Next time, I’ll marinate the chicken to see if it enhances the flavor even more. I did have some issues with excess breading sticking to the chicken, resulting in certain sections of powdery flour and spices. I didn’t add the MSG, so maybe that was the missing element. Nevertheless, an excellent recipe!” – Anonymous
  • “This recipe was absolutely delicious! I had to make a couple of substitutions, such as using turmeric instead of dry mustard because I didn’t have any on hand. And believe it or not, I used coconut-almond milk instead of buttermilk, and it still turned out wonderfully flavorful. This recipe is definitely a keeper, and I can’t wait to share it with my mom!” – Another Chicken Lover
