BREAD Use a thickly sliced white bread, either standard or sourdough, for the greatest garlic cheese toast. It is sometimes found in the frozen section of supermarkets under the name “Texas Toast.” Look for bread that is thick enough to retain the toppings but not so thick that it cannot be dipped into soups or sauces!

BUTTER For the greatest results, use butter. Margarine will also work, but it won’t have the same flavor as butter!

CHEESE Cheddar, Monterey Jack, and parmesan cheese were used. Use whatever cheese you have on hand! Mozzarella, Emmental, and Swiss cheeses are all delicious!

GARLIC Fresh, minced garlic takes this to the next level. Depending on how much garlic you like, you can add more or less!

Ingredients
4 slices thick white bread or Texas toast
1/2 cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a combination)
2 teaspoons melted unsalted butter
2 minced garlic cloves (optional)
Making Cheesy Texas Toast:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (205 degrees Celsius).
Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet.
Melted butter and minced garlic (if using) should be combined in a small bowl.
Brush the mixture on both sides of the bread pieces evenly.
Top each slice with an even layer of shredded cheese.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown, in a preheated oven.
Serve immediately.
