1 pound breadcrumbs
a quarter cup milk
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup coarsely chopped bell pepper
2 minced garlic cloves
ketchup, 1/4 cup
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1 tsp. dried parsley
a half teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 big beaten egg
To make the mashed potatoes:

2 pounds peeled and cut into chunks potatoes
4 tbsp unsweetened butter
1/2 cup cream or milk
To taste, season with salt and black pepper.
To make the gravy:
2 tbsp unsweetened butter
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 and 1/2 cup beef broth
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
To taste, season with salt and black pepper.
Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Set aside a loaf pan that has been greased.
Combine all of the meatloaf ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Mix until all of the ingredients are uniformly distributed.
Place the ingredients in a greased loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
In a preheated oven, bake the meatloaf for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
Prepare the mashed potatoes while the meatloaf is baking. Cover the potato chunks with water in a big pot. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are cooked. Drain thoroughly.
Melt the butter in the same pot over low heat. Return the drained potatoes to the pot and mash them until smooth using a potato masher.
Add the milk or cream to the mashed potatoes gradually, stirring constantly, until the required consistency is attained. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat for the gravy. Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the flour is gently browned.
