Crab and Shrimp Boil Pasta

Ingredients

  • Kosher salt
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, such as kielbasa, sliced ½-inch-thick
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil, such as canola or vegetable oil
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth or seafood stock
  • 2½ teaspoons seafood seasoning, such as Old Bay
  • 1½ teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon red-pepper flakes, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (from 1 lemon)
  • 1 (16-ounce) box linguine
  • 1 pound lump crab meat
  • 1 recipe sheet-pan shrimp boil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley leaves

Preparation

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil for the pasta.
  2. While the water is heating, heat a Dutch oven or pot over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the sausage in oil until browned, around 5 minutes. Transfer the sausage to a plate to drain.
  4. Add butter to the pot and melt it. Then add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  5. Stir in the chicken broth, seafood seasoning, Cajun seasoning, red-pepper flakes, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Taste the broth and adjust the seasonings if needed. Set aside ½ cup of the garlic broth for serving.
  6. Cook the linguine pasta in the salted boiling water according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  7. Add the lump crab meat to the broth and gently stir until heated through. Then add the cooked pasta to the pot and toss it with tongs until the pasta is evenly coated.
  8. Pour the pasta into a large serving bowl and top it with the sausage and the sheet-pan shrimp boil. Drizzle the reserved garlic broth on top of the mixture.
  9. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley leaves and serve immediately.
