The Best Bacon Egg and Cheese Biscuit Braid Recipe

This recipe was inspired by my dear friend Linda, a recipe developer for White Lily Flour. During my time in Nashville, I had the privilege of working with Linda in the White Lily test kitchen, where I got to experiment with some of their latest products. This recipe was born out of that collaboration, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. It’s the kind of biscuit recipe that transforms everyday ingredients into something truly special.

How to Make the Best Bacon Egg and Cheese Biscuit Braid Recipe

To make this delicious treat, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • Self-rising flour
  • Cold butter
  • Buttermilk
  • Large eggs
  • Cooked and crumbled bacon
  • Sour cream
  • Chopped chives
  • Shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Salt and black pepper

You’ll also need some kitchen tools, including a medium bowl, a small microwave-safe bowl, a pastry blender, measuring cups and spoons, a skillet, a whisk, a cheese grater, a sharp knife, a cutting board, a sheet pan, and a pastry brush.

Here are some tips to help you make the perfect Bacon Egg and Cheese Biscuit Braid:

  • When scrambling the eggs, aim for soft scrambled eggs rather than stiff eggs. This will give you the best end result.
  • To save time, you can prep the eggs and bacon in advance and chill them until you’re ready to make the biscuit braid. Just fully cook the eggs and bacon and pop them in the refrigerator. They will gently reheat while baking.
  • If you prefer, you can customize this recipe by using cubed ham, cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage, or sautéed vegetables instead of bacon.
  • Don’t worry if the homemade biscuit dough tears while you’re working with it. Just pinch the dough back together. The rustic, handmade look adds to the charm!

Once you’ve made the Bacon Egg and Cheese Biscuit Braid, you can store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days. Simply reheat individual portions in the microwave when you’re ready to enjoy them.
