So, let me get right to it and tell you precisely what you need to do to reclaim your clean oven vents! All you need are two ingredients, which I’m sure you already have in your kitchen, so no need to hurry out to the store!

What you’ll need to clean your oven vents:

Enough water to fill the pot halfway
1 cup baking soda – inexpensive baking soda works just as well!
Make sure your vents will fit neatly into a large soup pot.
Tongs for Kitchen Scissors
That’s all! Yes, and you’ll be surprised at how fast and easily it can be done.

Begin by filling your large soup pot halfway with water.

We’ve all seen the seemingly limitless number of quick kitchen hacks on Pinterest, and to be honest, many of them simply don’t work as advertised. The good news is that this one does! My oven vents were really filthy. Before I tried cleaning them repeatedly by scrubbing and even put them in the dishwasher, all attempts were failed.

Look at how vile they were. We cook frequently, and the amount of grease trapped in these oven vents is astounding! Gross! Not only is the mess filthy and oily, but so are the metal rims. The comparison photograph speaks for itself. What a remarkable difference. They are practically brand new!

When the water begins to boil, add 1 cup of baking soda. Stir the baking soda and water mixture for a few seconds, then remove from the heat and insert the oven vents with a set of Kitchen Scissor Tongs.

Allow it to sit for approximately a minute until you notice all of the filth disappear! It happens quickly, so you can get back to your other cleaning tasks around the house – or sit back and relax with a lovely glass of wine – your choice. You can immediately observe how quickly it begins to clean your oven vents.

NOTE: I opted to switch off the burner and just leave them in the mixture because the water will bubble up and rise to the top. You don’t want it to boil over, so proceed with caution.

Look at how spotless they are now! Even the grease on the metal rims is spotless!

You can bring the full pot over to the sink and securely discard the water once you see the clean oven vents. To remove the vents, use tongs and rinse them with lukewarm water for a minute.

Now that I have clean oven vents, I can quickly clean them whenever they become dirty without breaking a sweat!
