When it comes to comfort food, nothing beats a traditional throwback ground beef and noodle casserole, which is exactly what Husband’s Delight Casserole is. It’s simple comfort food that won’t break the bank: egg noodles with ground beef and tomato sauce, a creamy filling, and a melty cheddar topping. It’s the kind of simple bake that parents everywhere have resorted to for decades when they need a quick meal that pleases the whole family (not just the husband), and I can assure you that it’s just as good today as it was a few years ago.

This dish is identical to Martha’s Company dish, which I grew up with and will always like. Husband’s Delight differs in that it includes onion, skips the cottage cheese, and layers differently, but it has the same cheesy-creamy-beefy-noodle thing going on that everyone loves.

INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground beef
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 jar marinara sauce (24 oz)
12 ounces egg noodles
2 quarts sour cream
3 ounces cream cheese
1/2 chopped white onion
2 cups grated Cheddar cheese
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cook pasta till al dente in a large saucepan of boiling salted water. Set aside after draining.
Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Season with garlic salt to taste. If necessary, drain the fat. Allow marinara sauce to simmer for 10 minutes.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, cream cheese, and onion.
Arrange half of the noodles in a 913-inch baking dish, followed with the meat mixture, the sour cream mixture, and the remaining noodles.
Bake for 25 minutes, then top with cheese. Enjoy!
