You would assume oyster crackers and sweet snacks have nothing in common, but you’d be wrong. You see, you can take an oyster cracker (or a few of them) and transform it into something approximating a bite-sized churro with a few ingredients and a little baking. Who would have guessed?

You would assume oyster crackers and sweet snacks have nothing in common, but you’d be wrong. You see, you can take an oyster cracker (or a few of them) and transform it into something approximating a bite-sized churro with a few ingredients and a little baking. Who would have guessed? But trust us when we say that these Sweet and Salty Churro Bites are a tempting, all-too-poppable sweet snack.

Essentially, you’re covering the oyster crackers in a hot caramel mixture before dusting them with cinnamon and sugar. It’s simple. It’s also excellent.

Bring the butter and brown sugar to a boil on the stovetop, then remove from the heat and whisk in the cinnamon and vanilla.

INGREDIENTS
5 crate oyster crackers
1 pound of unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar, light
3 tsp cinnamon (divided)
a tsp vanilla extract
two tbsp granulated sugar
1 tablespoon kosher salt
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with foil.
On a baking sheet, equally distribute the crackers. Place aside.
Melt butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently, for 2 minutes.
Remove from the heat and add the 2 tablespoons cinnamon and vanilla extract. Pour over crackers and mix with a rubber spatula until evenly coated.
Bake for 10 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbling.
While the crackers bake, combine the granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt. Place aside.
