Ingredients for Simple Lamb Shanks:

  • 1 Masterfoods Garlic and Herb foundation pack
  • 1 onion ?
  • 1 cup of water
  • one carrot?
    3/4 cup beef broth

Recipe:

6 diced overripe tomatoes
1 (diced) onion
3 smashed fresh garlic cloves
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp (optional) brown sugar
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 basil leaves, fresh
a pinch of dried oregano

Cooking time: 8 hours on low

If you don’t like sweetness, you can use less or no sugar.

Browning the shanks in the pan is optional. Place the onion and carrot, roughly diced, in the bottom of the slow cooker with the liquids. Cooked for 4 hours on low, then 2 hours on high. Brown the shanks in the oven on high for 5-10 minutes.
To thicken the remaining liquid, I added gravy!
With mashed potatoes!
