POTATO CASSEROLE WITH CHEESY HAMBURGER

Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole is a hearty dish made with ground beef, potatoes, cheese, and other savory ingredients. Here’s a recipe to get you started:

1 pound of beef – 4 cups peeled and thinly sliced potatoes – 1 small onion, chopped – 2 garlic cloves, minced – 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese – 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup of milk

  • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour – 2 tbsp. butter – 1 tsp. dried thyme – 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Remove the cooked beef from the skillet and set it aside.
  3. Melt the butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Cook until the onion and garlic are transparent and aromatic, about 5 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and garlic and mix well. Cook for another minute to remove the raw flour flavor.
  5. Slowly pour in the milk while constantly stirring to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens and becomes creamy.
  6. To the creamy mixture, add the dried thyme, dry oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine the flavors.
  7. Layer half of the cut potatoes in a greased casserole dish. Half of the ground beef should be spread over the potatoes, followed by half of the creamy mixture. Half of each shredded cheese should be sprinkled over the layers.
  8. Continue layering the remaining potatoes, ground meat, creamy sauce, and cheese.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes with the casserole dish covered with foil. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are soft and the cheese is golden and bubbling.
  10. Remove the dish from the oven and set aside for a few minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to settle and makes handling easier.
